They went on to receive not one but two more Top Ten placings at the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP in 2006! Effort stayed home from competitions in '07, but we Congratulate 2 of Effort's offspring who cranked out World Championships and Top Tens! |
| Farm members enjoy beach rides on Good Harbor, Long Beach & Cape Hedge Beaches. Beach Rides for Boarders and Leased Horses only. |

We are a RIDING SCHOOL and BOARDING FACILITY dedicated to teaching and practicing good horsemanship. We have a large wooden 134 x 74 indoor arena with attached viewing room, an outdoor ring, all day turnout, pastures in the summer, and trails off our property that lead to the beaches! Our instructors specialize in combined training. The owners compete at the world and national levels in both Gymkhana and Western Pleasure. We love to show! And some of us love to trail ride! We all support each other and have an excellent, friendly group of students and boarders! |

WHO WE ARE... Sandy Bay Stables was formerly Rowe's Farm for 50 odd years. Then it was owned by another party and the horse business at the farm sort of died out for the recent 4-5 years. The Burnham family purchased the farm in 2007 (empty) saving it from tear down and development and brought with them a life time of equestrian experience to the Rockport community. Krissie Burnham is a Social Worker for the Massachusetts Society for The Prevention of Cruelty to Children and a Family Support Specialist for the Parent Professional Advocacy League. Richard Dan Burnham is a 25+ year seasoned builder with a well-respected home construction business, R & D Home Improvements. He also owns and operates Jim's Landscaping and Property Maintenance. Both, Krissie and Dan, have accomplished Regional Championships, Top Tens Leading the Nation, and Top Ten rankings at the World Championships and at Nationals in many events with their Appaloosas. The Burnham's have traveled all over the country for competitions with their horses. Their 3 sons, Kristopher, Andrew and Chandler Burnham are also accomplished equestrians. Although no longer competing, the boys are pursuing their soccer passions, but often help out at the farm with chores and schooling and exercising horses. As a family, the Burnham's believe in hard work, compassion for all, and the importance of family, including the barn family. A strong family unit creates a safe, positive and supportive place for all members to thrive and that's important for us at Sandy Bay Stables. Along with the Burnham's entrepreneurial spirits, equestrian accomplishments, life time of horse experience and ownerships, and hard work ethics, they bring to you an incredible team of talented, experienced, licensed and insured professionals to help every rider achieve their goals. The Burnham's are pleased to bring to Rockport some of the best talent around! In addition to riding lessons, Sandy Bay Stables offers boarding, horse leasing, a variety of educational horse programs, social events, summer camp, and also equine assisted learning for professional and personal development. Our philosophy is that we are all learning and growing with horses. Horses are forever showing us 'the way'. Although riders have different disciplines, or different ideas, we can all learn from and support each other! |
