EQUINE ASSISTED LEARNING AND GROWING SEMINARS We started our first equine assisted learning program in 2007 and continue to grow our program to help organizations with personal and professional development using horses as facilitators! WHY HORSES? Horses have the ability to mirror exactly what the human body language is telling them. With horses, body language speaks louder than words or our status in the world - that's irrelevant to a horse. Horses are very much like humans in that they are social animals. They have defined roles within their herds and often they would rather be with their peers. They have distinct personalities, attitudes, and moods. An approach that seems to work with one horse, does not necessarily work with another. At times, they seem stubborn and defiant. They also like to have fun. In other words, horses provide vast opportunities for metaphorical learning. Using metaphors, in discussion or activity, has been an effective technique when working with even the most challenging individuals or groups. In summary, horses are honest, which makes them especially powerful messengers from which to learn from. WHAT CAN WE LEARN FROM HORSES? From hands-on, non mounted exercises we can accomplish the following.
OUR TEAM Depending upon what your group would like to accomplish will depend on the team of expertise that we select for your group's unique needs. The team of professionals that we select will always include an experienced horse handler, a social worker who specializes in group facilitation, and could also include a business consultant, a Life Coach, a MA Licensed therapist, or a trained mediator. Our "star" equine facilitators are Chip, Gulliver, Bayberry, Skye, Duke and Macs whose photos can be seen throughout this web site. For more information, please contact Krissie Burnham at 978-290-1952 so that we may discuss the needs of your group and put together the appropriate team that will meet your needs. |
