HORSESENSE PROGRAMS
EQUINE ASSISTED LEARNING FOR
PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL
DEVELOPMENT
We were delighted to start up our HORSESENSE program
on December 5th, our first session was titled:  “A Little Bit
of Horse Sense.”  The program was a bigger success than
we imagined.  This was not a horsemanship program but
rather a program for personal and professional
development.

In the HORSESENSE programs, people will have the
opportunity to work with our horse facilitators to gain
greater insights into things such as how you “team” with
others, how you lead, increase your self-awareness, better
understand the differences between assertion and
aggression, and enhance your problem solving skills as
well as learning to overcome obstacles in your workplace.

WHY HORSES?     Horses are responsive beings with
awareness of and sensitivity to their surroundings.  Like
people, horses have individual personalities, as well as
physical abilities and limitations.  Horses very accurately
sense a person’s level of trust, confidence, awareness,
and interpersonal skills.   Horses are herd animals, and
followers.  Exceptional leaders benefit from learning “what
followers follow.”

As with human-to-human relationships, goals can be
accomplished only after a partnership has been created.  A
partnership is based on self-awareness, knowledge of
relationship dynamics and understanding the “other’s”
perspective.  Horses give us immediate and honest
feedback about what we need to know and also what we
need to change about achieving partnerships with others.
When you set out to accomplish a goal with the horse as
your “customer” or “client” or "employee" or “current

Our week long INTENSIVE horseback riding program will give
your child a firm foundation in the principles of riding and horse
care.  The program is open to children of all riding levels from
the ages of 8 on up.  Students will be grouped according to
age and/or ability.  All classes are taught with a high staff to
student ratio (1:2).  That's unlike any other summer horse
program around!! Children will be taught in small groups of
four children (not more than 6) by our professional, licensed
adult instructors and experienced assistants.  Sandy Bay
Stables is a family run barn with a comfortable atmosphere
emphasizing good horsemanship, safety, and fun.
